Ask questions that can be investigated within the scope of the classroom, outdoor environment, and museums and other public facilities with available resources and, when appropriate, frame a hypothesis based on observations and scientific principles.

TERMS

  • Evidence - anything presented to support a claim

  • Experimental Question - a question that guides a testable scientific experiment

  • Hypothesis - a proposed explanation based on evidence

  • Observation - a statement about something you notice

  • Question - a sentence that asks for information

  • Scientific principles - fundamental concepts that explain natural phenomenon

  • Variable - a factor that can be changed, controlled or measured

    • Independent Variable - the manipulated variable in an experiment (cause)

    • Dependent Variable - the responding variable in an experiment (effect)
