Conduct an investigation collaboratively to produce data to serve as the basis for evidence, using fair tests in which variables are controlled and the number of trials considered.

TERMS

  • Conduct - the way in which an investigation is carried out or managed.

  • Constant - something that remains unchanged

  • Data - measurements or statistics used for evidence

  • Evidence - anything presented to support a claim

  • Fair test - a test that controls all but one variable

  • Investigation - a searching inquiry for obtaining facts

  • Phenomenon - observable events in the natural world (require explanations)

  • Plan - create activities for something

  • Prediction - to say that an event will happen in the future

  • Purpose - the reason for which something is done or created

  • Trial - one in a number of repetitions in an experiment

  • Variable - a factor that can be changed, controlled or measured
